Flanked by the mountainous peaks of the South Sinai desert, Dahab has grown from an old backpacker town to become a hotspot for wind sports due to its world class, reliable, safe learning conditions in the lagoons. Its extreme landscape of gold mountains and turquoise sea is a breathtaking background for any surfers.
There are several kite spots, most working best at high tide. The famous national park lagoon just north of Dahab is kite able in all tide states, though, and on a high tide it opens up to riding the sea. Windsurfers at Baby Bay and Speedy Lagoon (strictly windsurfers only between 0900 and 1600 in summer).The large bay located south of the village of Assalah is known among surfers as Fun Park, as it offers as many as three perfect surfing spots in one. From the flat-water area for beginners to the outer spot behind the sand bank with strong wind blowing from the sea, the Fun Park has plenty of wind and loads of thrills. Dahab has an impressive wind record with around 300 days a year of wind between Force 4 and 7. As with the windsurfing, the windy conditions in Dahab make this an ideal spot for beginners and experienced surfers alike.
It also has the benefit of a range of conditions to suit all levels of windsurfer and kite surfer. Many international competitions are held in town every year. Introduction to Kiteboarding (2 hours): 60 EURO for private kitesurf lesson and 30 EURO per person for group kitesurf lessons
- You will leave with a solid introduction to safety, kitesurf equipment characteristics and differences between kites. Includes independent on-shore practice session using our kitesurf gear: flying trainer kite, selecting a place to rig-up and launch full-size kite, rigging-up skills.
